Jamaican Dancehall star Alkaline and Brooklyn rapper Bobby Shmurda were spotted in the studio together today where they appeared to be working on new music. Per new videos shared by @Alkaline_daily, an Instagram fan page dedicated to the Vendetta Boss, Alkaline and Shmurda could be seen vibing to an unreleased track.

Though the first of the four videos has no sound, Alkaline and Bobby are seen with headsets, lighter in hand, jumping and vibing as they both appear to be singing in front of a recording mic.

In the second video, we hear a smooth instrumental and an almost inaudible Alkaline spitting lyrics. Studio vibes are high as they are no doubt creating a banger collab, as anticipation builds for Shmurda first release since he made his return in 2021.

“Pls tell me this is real,” asked one fan in the comments, to which Alkaline’s sister and manager, Kareena ‘Kereberry’ Beckford replied and confirmed with a “Yes.”

Bobby Shmurda, 26, who was released from prison in February of this year after serving seven years, debuted a new track during his Rolling Loud Performance over the weekend, according to HotNewHipHop.  After such a long break from the music industry, earlier this year he announced that he has a lot of new music to release, including an upcoming album. Though much information has not been released regarding his album, we know that it is to include some high-profile collaborations, one which may now feature, the man himself, Alkaline.

The rapper has also been linked with Dancehall stars Popcaan and Skillibeng.  Shmurda, whose father is Jamaican, appears to have recorded a second official remix of Skillibeng’s crossover hit Crocodile Teeth, after Nicki Minaj’s version was released on May 14 and later entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 100.

Alkaline’s sophomore album Top Prize was also released on May 14 when it grabbed the No. 1 spot for Reggae projects on a number of major streaming platforms.  The album later picked up a No. 2 debut on Billboard’s coveted Reggae Albums chart.

Vendetta fans were ecstatic in the comments as the studio linkup was seen as a positive move for Dancehall and the culture.

“Two legends on the same track 🔥,” commented one fan.  “Is a good Rass look fi the young lawd. Movement forward fi dancehall,” another said.

However, over on DJ Akademiks’s Instagram page, where the four videos were also posted, the reception was less than stellar as American fans appear impatient about the Hot N-gga rapper’s first drop since release from prison.

“Bobby ain’t preview a good snippet yet 🤦🏽‍♂️,” said one, while another added, “The hype is dead don’t even want new music.”
