Female Acts Hoping To Catch A Break With ‘Box and Kick’ Collab On UK’s Dancehall Music Scene

LONDON female DANCEHALL ARTISTES

Fourteen of the United Kingdom’s most promising female dancehall musicians have teamed up for Box and Kick and they’re hoping that the collab has just enough spunk to get them recognized in a market that entertainer Yung Saber says is in a mess.

Originally released by Yung Saber working alongside Irah, the Box and Kick collab is a spin on the popular Tump and Kick track recorded by Saber and Stylo G earlier this year.

“Something like this has never been done in UK dancehall before so that’s what makes the track unique. We need to push our females as they don’t get enough recognition, these girls are super talented and they killed the track,” Saber explained.

“The feedback has been insane, we’ve had crazy support from all around the world including Jamaica, the home of dancehall. In the UK dancehall is a mess but is slowly getting there with the help of myself and a few other individuals so we remain positive,” Saber added.

Saber explained that dancehall still had ways to go in the UK, noting it was not well coordinated and lack the structure to get it mainstream attention, however he described himself as one of the individuals bent on taking the genre to the next level.

The hardcore dancehall track, produced by Iron Ryan Beats, features an all UK line-up of lyrically talented females and includes: 4eva Sasha, Jodian, Natty, Simma, Aziza, Black Rose, Yeshie Renee, Kayoni, V’licious, Renay, Lady Danga, Lil Keish, Chung Lei, Ms Bandy and Gabriella.

The small army of women on the track adds a freshness to the dancehall space that Yung Saber believes will be appreciated by fans adding that he is definitely happy with how the project culminated and is looking forward to doing additional projects with female acts globally very soon.

Yung Saber isn’t the only one please with the outcome of the project, with at least one female from the track, Aziza, sharing similar sentiments.

“I was just so glad I happened to be in the right place at the right time for this opportunity,” she said.

“I’m normally always solo so it was great to be around such strong women with music in common,”she added.
