Blvk H3ro, Wayne J Pay Homage To The ‘Ghetto Queen’ In New Visuals: Watch

Two of Jamaica’s rising young talents, Blvk H3ro and Wayne J, have released visuals for Ghetto Queen, a track from their collaborative EP New Millennium, which was released in October 2020.

Ghetto Queen, produced by Bob Riddim/Greatest Records, is an ode to the women both artists were raised by and grew up seeing in their community.

The video, shot by Fernando Hevia and produced by LA-based Indie label Delicious Vinyl Island, was released two days ago and chronicles the parts of the ‘Ghetto Queen’s’ life as well as highlights all those elements that are not only authentically Jamaican but also indicative of the values held by those within the ghetto; religion, taking care of house and home, the dedication to the ‘hustle’ and the community.

The video was shot entirely in Wayne J’s native Waterhouse, which is where Blvk H3ro spent some time when he was growing up. “It just captures everything; it has so much feminine energy. The women are literally the backbone of the ghetto; the men had to go to work or dem a site man or they just weren’t there so it was really the women who nurtured the next generation,” H3ro said.

Blvk H3ro, whose given name is Hervin Bailey, is only 26 years old, while Wayne J, born Wayne Smith, is 17 years old.

The New Millennium EP was released by Delicious Vinyl Island and was multi-produced by Top Team, Greatest Records, Bob Riddim, Kraggibadart and Blvk H3ro, who was the executive producer.

Other standout tracks from the 7-song project include the Young Boss (Remix) with Skillibeng and Original.

The EP is available across all digital streaming platforms.
