Sultry Dancehall songstress Shenseea can now add another impressive accolade to her promising career as she has been named BET’s Amplified Artist of the Month.

It’s indeed quite the recognition considering that the American television channel describes the award as a “stamp of approval on the next big thing in music and each month a new emerging artiste will be highlighted through feature stories, videos and more”.

BET will push Shenseea to their audiences globally through their brands BET Jams, BET Her, BET Soul, and BET International channels in Africa, UK, France and South Korea.    Artists are selected for BET Amplified based on criteria including their unique sound, social media presence, and projected impact on the music industry and entertainment industry at-large.

Shenseea made the revelation to her fans on Instagram with a simple post: “Grateful to be @bet’s Artiste of the Month Thank You!!!” Many of her counterparts from around the region were quick to congratulate her.

Rising star Dovey Magnum said, “Big congrats mi artist,” while popular Trinidad and Tobago soca artiste Patrice Roberts also sent her congrats in the form of heart emojis. Taurus Riley added, “upness.”

BET also posted the following message on Twitter: “We’re proud to announce @SHENYENG as our new #BETAmplified artist of the month!”

Shenseea has been a powerhouse since getting into Dancehall in 2016 with her debut single Jiggle Jiggle.  She’s been recognised by many for her hard work and natural talent and has shown time and again that she has the resilience and eloquence necessary to survive the world of dancehall. Even as the pandemic shut down many careers last year, 2020, she found the right collaborations to keep her career hot. One of those included her massive hit with Taurus Riley called Lighter, which since its release in September 2020 has garnered over 42 million views on YouTube to date.

She’s also been gaining international recognition over the last year. In October 2020, she appeared alongside veteran Beenie Man and Bounty Killer, as well as rising stars Koffee and Skip Marley in a cypher for the 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards.

The Blessed singer is also hoping to release her first studio album this year. Not much is known about that project but she hinted last year that it may drop this month. She’s also been making some major moves and was recently spotted with New York rapper Lil Tjay and American R&B songbird H.E.R. in the studio.
