Ky-Mani Marley is all set to light up the silver screen after confirming his latest project, “Necessary Badness”.

In the upcoming film, the actor and reggae artist stars as a vigilante willing to go to extremes to save his own. The snippet he shared on Instagram contained a couple of clues on the storyline. “When your family life is at stake the rules no longer apply! #vengeanceismine #revenge #vigilante #movie #comingsoon,” he wrote.

Ky-Mani has proved he’s a star in his own right within the talented Marley clan, with a successful foray into film. His acting credits include 2002’s Shottas, the compelling crime-drama in which he plays Biggs alongside Spragga Benz, Paul Campbell, Wyclef Jean, and DJ Khaled. Though Shottas was never released in theatres, the buzz from viral DVD circulation alone has inducted it into the realm of cult classics.

He also starred in the heartwarming 2003 flick One Love, an almost vicarious performance from the Grammy-nominated singer. Marley plays Kassa, a young Rasta musician who falls in love with the gospel-singing daughter of a preacher, played by reggae songstress, Cherine Anderson.

Ky-Mani is once again tapping his penchant for gritty, gun-toting roles, posing with some heavy fire power on Instagram to promote the upcoming movie. One time for my warriors! #warrior #necessarybadness #movie #comingsoon,” he captioned the post.

Fans were both curious and excited about the photo, hoping it was confirmation of the Shottas sequel, which has been rumored for years. Plenty of hype followed the overwhelming success of the original, including talk of a cable tv series and sequel, which was slated to begin in 2014, according to IMDB.

In 2015, during an interview on New York’s HOT 97 radio station, Ky-mani said that the script for ‘Shottas 2’ was “really good”, that he’d “read it a few times,” and that Spragga Benz had received a copy.

While the Shottas sequel seems as elusive as Rihanna’s new album for now, Marley did give fans hope while promoting his new film. One eager IG user, @jupiterbabi, asked “R we getting a shottaz 2?”, to which Ky-Mani replied, “no 2 as yet but we giving you something else until 2 is ready.”

Despite several others pressing the matter, Marley remained tight-lipped on any further updates. Fans can rest assured the next installment is coming soon though, and will likely debut to an epic reception.

For now, fans await a trailer and lots more details about Necessary Badness.
