Popcaan Shares Visuals For The ‘FIXTAPE’ Freestyle ‘Smoked Out’ With Bakersteez: Watch

Ever wondered how much weed Popcaan smokes a day? Well, you’re about to find out in his new biopic-styled music video that debuted yesterday for his ‘high as a kite’ single, Smoked Out Freestyle off his YIY Change Fixtape.

Back in the late summer of last year, Popcaan released what was at the time his highly anticipated FIXTAPE which included the single Smoked Out, a certifiable impromptu freestyle with Kingston-raised rapper, Bakersteez.   He has since ventured into the medicinal cannabis business, with the creation of a new Unruly Cannabis Immune Tea, which should be released soon.

Smoked Out is simply a love song dedicated to the medicinal herb, Cannabis Sativa a.k.a. weed. What better way to make a dedication to his true love than under the influence, though this was speculatory when the audio for the track released last August, we now see it as a fact in the new visuals. A tab was taken to see how many spliffs Poppy smoked through the week, the count begun via updates throughout the video.

The new visual is a collection of behind-the-scenes footage of Poppy with his crew. There are shots taken at his studio, in a backyard setting, and what looks to be a clubhouse along with other locales outside. In a predictable plot, we see cameos with other industry acts such as Skillibeng, Dane Ray, Junior Reid, Chi Ching Ching, and producer, Creep Chromatic to name a few.

The track unbridles an effortless mixing backed by Creep, where Popcaan soothes the hook, “Smoked out yeah,” in somnolent vocals, and like submitting advice among his crew, he tells them to “stay high.” He then gets into his unrehearsed verses, a snippet he lyrics, “Just the weed mi need.”

After what seemingly started at the top of the week, we get an update: “It’s Wednesday night. 47 Spliff and counting!”

Poppy in a baiting bid eventually nudges Bakersteez to enter the studio, but before doing so chides him about being lazy to record. “Steezy you an yuh fren Creep love di chill-ding, henging tree mi a carry you pon, it deh outside the building… Him and creep been sinning, di song dem, dem not singing.”

Filling gaps in his made-up verses, he lands a jab, “Steezy hair barely a grow just trim him.” Then continues, to tell the young rapper the girls won’t give him the time of day if he doesn’t come and make that money, however in a much lewder version.

In the end, there was no telling how many spliffs Poppy had gone through. Another update hovered across the screen, “Honestly, by Saturday we lost count,” to show Poppy lighting up yet another blunt!
