Controversial dancehall entertainer Laden was fined $2,000 when he appeared in the St. Elizabeth Parish Court today to answer to the charge of disobeying the constable’s command.  Laden, whose real name is O’Keefe Aarons, pleaded guilty, apologised to the court and to the police officer, and was fined $2,000 or five days imprisonment.

Aarons and his two co-accused appeared in the St. Elizabeth Parish Court on another charge but the Clerk of Courts offered no evidence against all three in relation to the charge of breaching the Disaster Risk Management Act, so the charge was withdrawn.

Mr Aarons returns to the Gun Court Division of the St Elizabeth Circuit Court on December 15, 2020, for sentencing in another matter.

“Mr. Aarons remains pensive but is strong in his faith and accepts that God has created a teachable moment in his life’s journey,” Thomas Levene, attorney-at-law for the entertainer, told DancehallMag.

His attorneys, Mr. Thomas Levene and Ms. Jodi Taylor are now preparing themselves for December 15th and “will make no comment that will seem to trespass upon the judge’s prerogative”.
