Skip Marley Nominated For Two Soul Train Music Awards

Skip Marley is certainly carrying on his family legacy; the 24-year-old Reggae artiste has been nominated in two categories of the upcoming 2020 Soul Train Music Awards. His chart-topping single Slow Down featuring H.E.R is nominated in the categories of Video of the Year and Best Collaboration.

Skip was more than thrilled to announce the feat on Twitter yesterday, his caption read, “Felt blessed and inspired to wake up to this news … nominated for “Best Collaboration” and “Video of the Year” wid the incredible @HERMusicx 🙏🏾. Nuff love to all di fans who love #SlowDown as much as we do ❤️ #SoulTrainAwards @BET”

Slow Down released a year ago on November 7 and went on to eventually topping the Billboard’s Adult R&B Songs chart for five weeks in May. It also charted on the publication’s Rhythmic Songs, Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop and R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay charts and has currently stockpiled more than 25 million streams on YouTube (audio & video combined).

Marley celebrated the track’s one-year anniversary with a prior clip on Twitter, where he spoke about his experience collaborating with H.E.R. In an interview with the folks at The Beat 103.5, the Reggae singer said she surpassed his expectations during his quest in searching for another voice on the single.

R&B songbird, H.E.R. is actually leading the nominations with eight singles, one is another collaboration with American rapper YG on the track, Slide. Other celebs such as Chris Brown have seven and Beyonce and rapper Young Thug picked up six each.

The Soul Train Music Awards is scheduled for broadcast on Sunday November 29 and will air simultaneously on BET, BET Her and MTV2 with hosts Tisha Campbell and Tichina Arnold.
