Despite Carnival 2021 being canceled, the forecast is still festive in Kemar Highcon and Patrice Roberts’ new music video Start Up.

The song features on the groovy Candy Shack Riddim which also includes the likes of Konshens, Destra and Bajan trailblazer Allison Hinds. “The official music video for “Start Up is nothing short of sexy and playful,” said the indomitable Patrice Roberts of her new Sauce Boss collaboration.

She added, “Start Up is a seamless blend of sweet Soca music from Trinidad, Dancehall energy from Jamaica, and R&B with global melodies and vibes.” An array of edgy, colorful outfits and sets heat up the TV-themed production, as the lyrics spell out a cozy coupled-up scene. “When di wine nice, run it back, run it back twice/ She ah roll it, roll it like dice/ How she know she mek di right choice/ Mi mek she scream pon top ah her voice,” Highcon spits.

Patrice picks up the pace with, ”Have me galang galang so bad/ In di fete people think we mad/ But nobody cyah judge/ Dancehall soca drop inna di club.” The video’s crafty director, SocaBanton, was also responsible for Robert’s fun, flirty Splash video back in March, as well as co-wrote and directed Nessa Preppy’s 2019 smash-hit, Issa Snack.

Start Up is an entertaining early entry bound to comfort the many disappointed revellers needing a musical pick-me-up in quarantine. Fans already missing the road have dropped favourable comments on Youtube, such as “Kemar you come out eeeh, good collab‼ This is the sauce 💥” while another wrote, “One problem with this video, IT TOO SHORT! But on fire 🔥🔥🔥 love it!”
