When Soca meets dancehall, what you have is a sweet treat that is bursting with all kinds of flavours. That exactly what Dancehall artiste Kemar Highcon and soca star Patrice Roberts have done on their recent collaboration, Start Up.

Released just last week, Start Up is one of four songs currently on the Candy Shack riddim, and is produced by Stadic & Jonny Blaze.

The Candy Shack riddim is a sultry Soca riddim with a party-oriented quality to it. The sweet project features two collabs and two singles performed by top artists in the business.  There is Konshens with Soda, Kerwin Du Bois and Destra with Stress Reliever, and Azaryah with Sweetest.

This new music is an extension of a trending fusion amongst Caribbean and African sounds that is happening in music. Dancehall soca Start Up is a beautiful sound that is sultry, staying true to soca, yet it maintains that strong dancehall flavour.

Fans of both artistes can come away with good vibes knowing that they deliver a sweet collab that can satisfy their dancehall soca appetite.

In late September, Patrice had teased fans with a clip indicating that she had new music coming on the ‘Cand Shack’ Riddim. She posted on her Instagram page, “Welcome to the Candy Shack 🍭 ⁣⁣⁣Friday!!”⁣⁣

Fans were excited hearing that she would be dropping new music and took to her page with responses in anticipation. “Can’t wait to hear what you bring🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥,” said one fan.  Another added, “Right time when we need it 🔥💯💯.”

Now that Start Up is here, the excitement is amplified, and even though most fans will not be able to go out and hit the dance floor to this song, they still showed appreciation on social media.

In response to the YouTube premiere ‘ Patrice Roberts x Kemar Highcon – Start Up (Candy Shack Riddim),’ fans did not hold back on their comments as they bask in the sound of Highcon and Patrice.

Coming up for Highcon soon is a birthday celebration, which he’ll be hosting, and a new single release event dubbed ‘Big Vybz’ scheduled for October 25. The location for the even remains a secret, but it will be somewhere in Connecticut, United States.
