Jamaican producer and artiste Wavy Jones is confident his recently released debut EP Sine Energy will properly introduce his artistry to the masses.

The six-track EP which features upcoming artistes such as: Leno Banton, Blvk H3ro, Jeeby Lyricist, Kione Zaire, Shawn J Smith, Ramia, Dxcape and Mila Akilah, is a smooth flow of raw talent.

“I have to make special mention of Jay Edge for tracking and mixing at Jaw Records and Alex Psaroudakis from The Workshop NYC, for mastering the entire project… The EP embodies the smoothness from sine wave” Jones told DancehallMag.

With a fusion of Dancehall, R&B and Hip-Hop, the young Artiste says his style was born out of a love for the unconventional.

“I like to make music that gets your head rocking back and forth. You will be listening then the ‘bounce’ takes over your body without you even realizing… I always add some sort of vocal sound in my beats; the weirder the sound the better.”

Jones told DancehallMag that he has been making beats for the past 8 years after being influenced initially by his brother’s love for BET and a discovery of the beat creation software Fruity Loops.

“I discovered the software while in 3rd form at Munro College; having no musical background at the time, I was just pushing buttons. Later that year I started piano lessons and could now apply some of this knowledge; definitely less button pushing. Fast forward to 6th Form where I took up the saxophone with my teacher, Sybil Grant, instead of the guitar; that, I wanted to learn. In my last year of high school, I started to learn classical guitar…I was still learning my way around Fruity Loops; the beats were not all that great, but it was definitely a starting point. I was able to take all the knowledge from music classes and modify them for my style of beat making”

Fast forward to a few years later when Jones enrolled in the University of the West Indies and met other upcoming artiste who helped to revolutionize his musical dreams.

“We would record vocals in Chancellor rooms from Aye to Runci to Excellence and even put together a ‘Chancellor Hall Cypher’. I took a year off from school and it was during this period that I started honing skills in making my music. I started remixing some of my favorite songs and would upload them to my sound cloud and at this time a name change was inevitable…I locked in the name to Wavy Jones and began uploading a new track each week.”

In his final year, Jones recorded his first two singles ‘100lbs’ and ‘Blessed Indies’ Blvk H3ro, Jeeby Lyricist and Kione Zaire.

Since then, one of his biggest releases has been Ketch Di Pree  released May 15th with a New York based label called In Good Company.

“I would say my top influences are Kanye West, Flume and Decap. I feel they continually push the boundaries of music by using very random sounds.

Jones says based on his style he could see a collaboration happening with Skillibeng among other local acts,  SiR, Smino, and SAINt JHN.
