H.E.R. Is In Jamaica And Fans Think It’s A Baecation With Skip Marley
Are Skip Marley and H.E.R. a couple? Many fans of both musicians have raised their suspicions that the two have been dating since their mega-hit Slow Down. To add fuel to the rumour mill, H.E.R. is currently in Jamaica.
In a series of Instagram posts, she’s dressed fashionably and declares her love for the island.
In one post that featured a series of photos, she says, “I usually don’t… but when I do.. 🇯🇲.”
In another, she shares a short video clip as she looks out at the ocean, which was captioned, “I love it here.”
In the last one she declares that she’s “not here for Vacation.”
This probably indicates that the two may be collaborating on new music. Skip Marley is also set to drop his debut EP, this Friday, titled Higher Place.
The seven-track project includes their Slow Down hit as well as collaborations with his grandfather Bob Marley, his uncle Damian’ Jr. Gong’ Marley, Rick Ross, and Ari Lennox.
Slow Down topped the Billboard Adult R&B Songs charts in May, while its music video amassed almost 19 million views since its release in January.
The young Marley has neither denied nor confirmed that he is dating H.E.R, whose real name is Gabriella Wilson. In February this year (2020), during an interview with Angie Martinez about their successful hit, he did say that he felt a connection with her.
“It was a natural connection…as we met it was just a natural type of vibe between us, it’s like we get each other a little bit,” he said. “I had the track and I thought it wasn’t complete and a man suggest to me, ‘why don’t you see who else you can get on the track?’ and I was thinking for a while and he said, ‘what about H.E.R?’ and I was like, ‘H.E.R would be dope still’.
He added: “I tried to get in contact with her team and see if it was possible… Like, ‘yow, I’d love if you could grace this track with your presence’ and then she sent it back to me and matched mi type of vibe.”
H.E.R. has definitely been impacted by reggae and recently dropped a brand new reggae track titled Do To Me, which only caused fans to believe even more that the two are together.
The young neo-soul artiste has 3.3m Instagram followers, and many of them were quick to question her about her decision to visit Jamaica.
This fan said: “You know Marley there stop playing.” Another added, “Hmmm you there with Skip tho Sis?!”
“I hope you’re there with Skip Marley! I love seeing you two together‼️‼️‼️‼️” said one user.
Many fans even coined a term, baecation, to describe her visit to Jamaica.
If anything, Jamaica is definitely winning by getting attention from an artiste with such a huge following, especially since the coronavirus pandemic has slowed tourism down significantly on the island.
As to whether or not she’s there for Skip Marley, only time will tell as there have been no photos with the two together and no indicator on Marley’s social media accounts that he intends to meet up with her while she’s there.
