Elly B, The ‘Dancehall Rockstar’ Has Big Dreams
If you follow major performances of artistes like Damian Marley, Shaggy, Konshens, and Mr. Vegas, chances are you would have seen guitarists extraordinaire Elton Brown, more popularly known as Elly B in his element.
But the musical genius, who calls himself the ‘Dancehall Rockstar’, is now immersing himself in another area of music.
Because of his incredible musicianship, he has been able to tour Europe, the Caribbean, and the Americas but Elly B said his primary focus now, is recording music.
“Primarily I am a recording artiste, but I still focus on production since I produce most of my music. Being a musician is how I pay the bills”
Elly B is hyped about his latest single, Place in Her Heart which was released recently and is expecting several opportunities to make its way from it.
“Being able to perform my own music for audiences as Elly B the Dancehall Rockstar is such a blessing” he told DancehallMag.
And while the performances are on a pause, Elly says he is making use of the quarantining period by making new music.
“Elly B is a dancehall artiste, who jus deejay a verse, then play the wickedest solo afta dat. Dat a my unique style…. I just want to be a successful and renowned recording artiste, that is my aspiration…”
At 10 years old, Elly B started playing drums in church. His curiosity and passion led him to learning other instruments such as the keyboard and the bass guitar, which is a lot different from the electric guitar, which is what you see him using on stage now.
