London based Reggae and Dancehall artiste Mr. Williamz has a new single added to his roster of musical releases. The latest composition entitled Lyric Collection, inclusive of an accompanying music video debuted on YouTube two weeks ago with production credits assigned to Specialist Moss.

Williamz, whose real name is Micah Williams, emerged onto the Reggae scene in 2008 with his debut single Babylon In Helicopter, which offered him music chart success in both the U.S. and Germany. His street cred grew in the U.K. subsequently, establishing him as one of the top Reggae artistes in the region and led to him being crowned, BBC’s U.K. Artist of the year.

Lyric Collection is the first single from Mr. Williamz’ long awaited 3rd album that’s slated for release later this year. The single comes as a teaser where fans can check out this Apache Indian meets Super Cat deejay delivering some 90’s style dancehall lyrics in this brand new 2020 track.

The well-known sound system toaster starts the single with some classic DJ-selector rambling as he gets into talking about his extensive ‘lyrics collection.’ Laced with old school anecdotes, Mr. Williamz’ storytelling song sees his uncle as his bookkeeper, so to speak, so while he’s away touring in New York, Baltimore and San Salvador, his trusting kin has the lyric collection on lock.

The news of a burglary from his uncle takes us into the next half of his musical saga, the collection is safe, but they took off with a few minor pieces, nonetheless, Williamz says his music is insured. A salute goes out to dancehall veteran Nicodemus, who the deejay credits, “God fadda, a dem man yah response fi dem style yah.”

The visuals are quite telling, Williamz’ plot comes to life as scenes of his younger self flash between takes. They show that he’s been writing songs from an early age, but he’s also an artist and record collector. The old school rhythms are complemented with an old-time setting, a Victorian-style apartment in the city, and the deejay’s vintage flip phone is a must-see.
