She recently released the video for Solitude, a song she said describes her need to be alone to protect herself from the negative energy that seeps in through the entertainment industry at times.

Topping the chart is quite an achievement as the last female to do so was Spice in 2018 with her mixtape, Captured. Coming in at second on the chart is World on Fire by Stick Figure and third is Welcome to Treasure Island by JC and The Reggae Starzz.

The singer will take over the Clarks Original Instagram account later today for a performance.  The UK based shoe manufacturer and retailer of Jamaica’s favorite footwear has been a frequent endorser of Lila who often rocks the brand in her fashion-forward outfits.  The Live will start at 1 PM Jamaica Time or 2 PM EST.

Iké began working with Protoje in 2017 after he reached out to her via social media after hearing her impressive flow. She hails from Manchester parish, located in south-central Jamaica, and has been steadily raising eyebrows with her renditions and fiery spirit.

Protoje, would become more than her mentor and currently manages the artiste, having played a major role in her recording this EP. He also manages another talent to watch, Sevana.

Lila Iké whose real name is Alecia Grey, shared with Billboard Magazine in 2019 that she is the second oldest of four sisters and that she chose the name Lila, which means blooming flower, and Iké, a Yoruba word meaning the Power of God.

She also revealed to Billboard during that interview about why she decided to get into conscious dancehall. She said: “Dancehall was the only music my mother didn’t play at home because its lyrics (sometimes) aren’t really child friendly, so when I started writing my own songs, I wrote conscious lyrics that my mother would want to play in the house.”

Iké is now looking at a very promising career in dancehall but she also revealed that she was once studying to become a teacher and that she was also once a call center worker in Kingston. Through perseverance and dedication to her craft, she can now claim one of the top-selling EPs on the US Reggae charts.
