The popular Dancehall dancer Tippa, whose real name is Fredrick Moncrieffe, has died following a battle with what many suspect was cancer. He was well known in both the dance and Dancehall fraternity as he had been performing since the 90s.

His big break came after he was selected for a segment on a popular Jamaican TV show called Intense. He passed away early yesterday February 19th, 2020.

Many personalities and fans have been sharing their feelings at his passing.

On Intense’s Facebook page they commended about his contribution to the dance fraternity on the island.

“We write this with a heavy heart. Our friend Tippa, who was a regular on Intense, teaching everyone the latest dance move a few years ago, passed away earlier today (yesterday). Our prayers go out to his family and friends. Sleep in peace Tipps.”

On Instagram, dancejamaica_academy posted: “We are saddened and in shock at the passing of one of our long time dance colleague @tippa_.__dance_i_con_ 😔 You were always so jovial and willing to teach and share your experiences in dance & in life. This is an immense loss from creating Squad One dancers • choreographing for @lacadco • teaching classes @schoolofdance.emcvpa @dancejamaica_academy • tons of music videos • red label wine commercial etc etc rest well my friend”

Several other Jamaican dance studios expressed similar sentiments.

Another popular dancer, Orville Hall of Dance Xpressions also took to Instagram and said: “Been holding this from early today. The news of your passing was too sudden bredda. With all this happening I could have done without hearing this. It’s been 25 years, what is important now is for us to help make sure your legacy live.”

His contribution to the legacy of dance in Dancehall will definitely be missed and forever remembered.
