The Best of the Best music fest will have an all-female, star-studded lineup at this year’s staging as the concert organizers look to celebrate woman empowerment across the popular genres of Caribbean music.

This year’s event, the 14th staging of BOTB, has been “the year of the woman”, with a host of Caribbean female artists across the spectrum of Reggae, Dancehall and Soca.

Among the headliners for the event are Grammy-award winning Reggae sensation, Koffee, legendary acts legendary Tanya Stephens and Lady G, Dancehall heavyweights, Spice and Shenseea, and the queen of Soca, Alison Hinds.

The concert organizers say that this year’s lineup was selected based on the conscious decision to celebrate Caribbean women in music who have seen this past year as a breakthrough year after fighting for their respective space in the male-dominated field.

“In all areas, women are such a force to be reckoned, especially this past year, there has been no denying the power of women in Caribbean music, just look at the Reggae Charts”, explained the music festival publicist, Ronnie Tomlinson.

BOTB-Resized“It is unfortunate that often enough their presence isn’t more visible and highlighted. In addition to playing our part in giving more female artists the stage, we at BEST OF THE BEST wanted to make a statement by revealing our first round of an all-female artists lineup”, he added.

Best of The Best is one of the United States’ biggest Caribbean music events. Held in Florida each year, the concert draws Caribbean residents visiting the US, Caribbean immigrants and Caribbean-Americans, to Downtown, Miami, in celebratory style.

“It is a celebration of Caribbean heritage. It has been kind of downplayed because it has been doing well for so long. Best of the Best has earned its reputation based on the fact it’s in its 13th year. This particular festival also hasn’t had any negative incidents and we are very proud of that.” declared Retha Boone-Fye, program officer and director of Miami-Dade’s Black Affairs Advisory Board.

Best of The Best will be held on Sunday, May 24th 2020, at the Bicentennial Park in downtown Miami. More artistes are expected to be announced in the weeks leading up to the event.
