During his lifetime, XXXTentacion didn’t get a chance to release music that celebrates his Jamaican roots. The icon artist was one of the new rappers who had evoked thoughts that the new generation can look at life through different lenses.

Unfortunately, he would be murdered before fulfilling his prophecy of changing the world with his innovative sound. However, X’s estate lead by his mother Cleopatra Bernard has been pushing out material for his fans to enjoy. The latest product is the music video for his dancehall influenced track “Hot Gyal” featuring Mavado and Tory Lanez. The track which holds the 12th spot in his second posthumous album “Bad Vibes Forever” has already crocked in 800k views on YouTube in as little as two days.

In the track, XXXTentacion taps into elements of hip-hop, hardcore, indie, and rock. He brings out his Caribbean sounding flow almost effortlessly using Jamaican slang mixed with his natural sound. Seeing that X is of Jamaican descent, it is great to hear him rap in the accent and capture the Jamaican vibe. The song starts with X’s perfect note which lays a great foundation for Mavado to follow.

Mavado perfectly brings his singjay’s artistry as he gracefully lays down melodic lines over fast, energetic beats. He comes through in the second verse as he sings, “Bad Gyal wine see har ya, Yuh body bad like Rihanna/ Play with your beraet like piano/ gyal you tailor fi me like Teana.”  He then start to deejays , “wine up yuh body that a magic, sht down instagram and taggit ,government contraband and tag it bring it come an make the yardman stabit.”

Primarily, the “Hot Gyal” focuses on the song’s narrator bragging how he is confident that every girl in the world has a crush on him and wants to sleep with him. The reason is well explained in Tory Lanez verse where he claims “cah my money real pretty when I’m lookin’ ugly.” Lanez took the same approach as XXX of Jamaican Patois in his rap accent making it a short and spicy verse.

Ideally, Mavado covers all the basics you would expect in a track like this that has a special emphasis on cute ladies that he is more than qualified to chant about. Taking it to Instagram, the dancehall legend posted the art for the track showing respect for the album and the slain rapper. He also requested his fans to check out th song and support it.

“Go check out my song on XXXTentacion album Jah May your soul be with the angel’s kid and this is a great album. I really like the way it was put together. It’s like the artist is still here.”
