Dancehall Entertainers And Fans React To Sikka Rymes’ Shooting

Members and fans of the dancehall industry are hoping for the best after it was revealed that dancehall artiste, Javian ‘Sikka Rymes’ Chambers, a close affiliate of Vybz Kartel, was shot multiple times over the weekend. According to reports, he is currently at the Kingston Public Hospital in serious but stable condition.

Sikka Rymes was shot in the vicinity of the Sovereign Centre in Liganuea on Sunday morning. It is said the shooting took place around 3:45 a.m. after an event which was held in Sandy Park, St. Andrew. It is also believed that the unknown assailants were trailing him after the event.

The news was a shock to many who took the chance to send love and well wishes to the entertainer who is now, reportedly, in a state of recovery.

Fellow dancehall artiste, Lisa Hyper, who was a member of the Gaza music camp, spearheaded by Vybz Kartel, shared some details about Sikka Rymes’ condition on her Instagram page. Lisa said, “For Everyone Thats Calling, Asking, Wondering And Are Genuinely Concern About @sikka_rymes He Is Now Recovering And Will Be Ok.Thanks For The Concern And All The Prayers.Lets Continue To Pray For A Speedy Recovery”.

Dancehall DJ Foota Hype, known for apologetically sharing his personal opinions about matters in the dancehall space also spoke on the incident.

In a video that is being circulated, after wishing him a speedy recovery, Foota said seeing that Sikka Rymes is affiliated with Vybz Kartel, he should be more careful, ensuring that he is being guarded by a police officer or a hired security when he is out and about.

Some fans believe that there is badmind at play, especially taking into consideration that Sikka had recently released his single titled Badmind on the Smoothie Riddim, one day prior to being shot.
