Koffee Teams Up With Gunna For New Single “W”
Koffe‘s new track, “W” is out and it’s a definite winner featuring American rapper, Gunna. Watch it below.
W is another catchy hit from the reggae sensation and is expected to get some traction in the dance scene. The lyrics talk a lot about her style, referring to herself as ‘Koffee-Swag-A-Lot’, and staying focused on making that money.
In a friendly interview last Friday, the eloquent and inspirational young talent, Koffee spoke with the folks over at i-D Vice about her life growing up and her fast track ticket to fame.
In the flood of questions that came her way, one quite resonating topic was that of her mom. She said her mom; Jo-Ann Williams was her biggest supporter and an avid attendee of her shows. Even after making the decision to quit her dream of becoming a pharmacist and switching to music, her mom was in fact tremendously proud.
Feeling blessed and having the opportunity to live and breath music everyday as well as achieving success with hits like, ‘Toast’ and ‘Rapture’, Koffee talks about what inspires her. Travelling, she says keeps her going, “When I travel — and I’m travelling a lot at the moment — I try to experience different things, see what’s unique to every culture, every spot I hit.”
It’s no secret her biggest musical influences are Chronixx and Protoje, as she was keen to mention this also. Though, in an interesting spin, says she wants to be an inspiration and good example to the youths, the way Bob Marley was – “he was so positive all his life, so influential and substantial. I’m trying to be inspired by his purity. The way he took his experiences, his environment, and made it relatable to the whole world.”
With much enthusiasm, the question about her new single “W” featuring Gunna eventually surfaced. The teen artist admitted it was the first song she had recorded on spot in the studio, just after listening to the beat. She said the lyrics just came to her. She went on to say there was an empty verse and thought to let Gunna fill in. He did and her exact words were, “I was blown away.”
A video clip posted on her Instagram page, has over 150k views and way over 2000 approving comments in just the last 12 hours.
